A conference was held recently to launch the Tianjin Central Fishing Port’s commercial function. With the completion of opening its shipping lanes to the world, the Central Fishing Port has expanded its commercial function to build itself into a comprehensive port integrating fishery, commerce and tourism.

The general berth 1#&2# is set to be open as a commercial port, extending along 432.5 meters of coastline. After its opening, the commercial port will serve as a distribution center in northern China for aquatic and cold chain logistics products with a focus on beef, mutton, cheese, wine and vegetables.

The Central Fishing Port covers an area of 982,700 square meters along 3,200 meters of coastline, and it is separated into fishery and berth areas. The port’s temporary shipping lanes for 2,000 ton vessels have been completed. The navigation rules and requirements in the port are formulated by the Tianjin Maritime Safety Administration based on the features of the fishing port to ensure the safety of its merchant vessels.

The Central Fishing Port is also equipped with 600,000 tons of cold storage facilities to perform its food delivery function. As a distribution center, the port will transport cold chain logistics products to the urban area of Tianjin and its neighboring Beijing, Heibei Province and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, functioning as a branch of the Tianjin Port to provide delivery services. The port’s unexplored 2,000 meters of coastline is expected to be built into a specific berth for containers, where goods like tuna and cod shipped worldwide can be directly stored at the port.
