First "Latin American Envoys' Campus Visit" Held in Tianjin Foreign Studies University

The first "Latin American Envoys' Campus Visit" was recently held in Bell Tower Auditorium of Tianjin Foreign Studies University. Eleven ambassadors and embassy officials from six Spanish-speaking countries of Columbia, Costa Rica, Chile, Cuba, Uruguay and Peru attended the activity and delivered brief introduction on their higher education systems, talent selection and cultivation mechanisms, characteristic specialties and preponderant disciplines, foreign exchange and cooperation programs, current employment situation and other topics.

During the activity, teachers and students in the major of Spanish presented stunning performance of two songs Sofia and El mismo sol to welcome the envoys. In the interactive section, students communicated with distinguished guests on issues such as famous institutions of higher education in Latin America, preferential policies for studying abroad and happiness index of life, showing their burning desire to further their study in Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America.

As China and Latin American countries are both developing countries, have similar stage of development and shoulder the same development task, China-Latin America relations have achieved substantial development in recent years. In 2011, Tianjin Foreign Studies University Latin America Research Center, the first cross-nation and regional relation research base of Ministry of Education, was official established, and already becomes the comprehensive scientific research institution that integrates talent cultivation, politics consultation service and cultural exchange. In 2017, Tianjin Foreign Studies University is approved to establish five cross-nation and regional relation research centers of Ministry of Education, including Russia, Ukraine, Korean Peninsula, Portugal and France.
